Air Brake – Truck Training

If you’re considering a career as a Class 2 or 3 commercial driver, your initial step often involves completing an Air Brake Course. (For those not pursuing a Class 2 or 3 license, an Air Brake Endorsement Course is required to add air to an existing Class 5 license).

The Air Brake Manual has been prepared by Manitoba Public Insurance to assist drivers in understanding the basic operation and function of an air brake system.

Efficient Driving Academy’s Air Brake Course equips students with knowledge about the benefits and safety measures associated with air brake systems in heavy vehicles, along with their operational functions. Our unique air brake board offers a hands-on experience within the classroom setting. This fully-operational board demonstrates precisely how the components work and fit together.

Through interactive classroom sessions, students gain the necessary information to successfully prepare for the MPI’s Air Brake knowledge test, a prerequisite for advancing to a commercial license. Following the completion of the Air Brake Course, most students proceed to a MPI Office to take the Air Brake knowledge test in conjunction with the Class 2 or Class 3 knowledge test.

A holder of any licence may be authorized to operate vehicles equipped with air brakes as a learner after meeting the required written standards. The learner must be supervised by someone who has held, for at least two years, an air brake endorsement.
